Clomid Ovulation Calculator

Clomid Ovulation Calculator

Use this Clomid Ovulation Calculator to estimate when you may ovulate on Clomid, the best days for LH tests and sex, and when to take a pregnancy test.

Updated October 22, 2026

First Day of Period
Day 1 is the first day of full bleeding. If your doctor started your bleed with medicine, use the first day of that bleed.
Clomid Days
Which days of your cycle are you taking Clomid? Use the days your doctor gave you.
Usual Cycle Length
Optional, before Clomid. Only used to compare with a natural-cycle estimate. Leave blank if your cycles are irregular or you do not have periods without medicine.

How Your Clomid Ovulation Window Is Calculated

Clomid (clomiphene citrate) is a pill that helps the ovaries grow and release an egg. In a Clomid cycle, ovulation follows the pills, not your usual cycle length. This calculator counts forward from your last pill to find the days ovulation is most likely, then builds your testing and timing plan around them.

What the Clomid Ovulation Window Measures

The window is the stretch of days when ovulation is most likely after a 5 day course of Clomid. It is an estimate based on the timing printed on the drug label¹. It cannot tell you whether you ovulated this cycle. This tool is only for timing. It does not ask about, suggest or change your dose, which is always set by your doctor.

The Formula

Last pill day = first pill day + 4

Likely ovulation = 5 to 10 days after the last pill

LH tests and sex = every 1 to 2 days, from 3 to 10 days after the last pill

Pregnancy test = on or after 25 days after the last pill

The FDA label for Clomid states: "Ovulation most often occurs from 5 to 10 days after a course of clomiphene citrate."¹ The last two lines are this calculator's own planning rules built around that window, not instructions from the label.

How This Calculator Computes Your Result

Enter the first day of your period and the days you take Clomid: days 3 to 7, 4 to 8, 5 to 9, or another start day. The tool assumes 5 days of pills and counts the last pill day as day 0. You can also enter your usual cycle length before Clomid to see how a natural-cycle estimate compares. Every result is a whole calendar date with its cycle day, plus a timeline and a status line for today.

  • Likely ovulation: the 6 days from 5 to 10 days after your last pill¹.

  • LH surge often around: about a week after your last pill, when the body releases the hormone surge that triggers ovulation².

  • LH tests and sex: start 2 days before the earliest likely ovulation day. After a positive LH test, ovulation may happen within the next 2 days, and the chance of pregnancy peaks with sex in the 2 days before ovulation⁴. Sex every 1 to 2 days during the fertile days gives the best odds⁴.

  • Pregnancy test: the main date this calculator uses is 15 days after the latest likely ovulation day, when your period would be due (the same rule as our Pregnancy Test Calculator). The tool also shows the earliest date a sensitive test might work (12 days after the earliest likely ovulation) and the date a result is most reliable⁵.

How Clomid Timing Differs From a Natural Cycle

A natural-cycle estimate, like our Ovulation Calculator, counts back about 14 days from your next expected period, which is the usual calendar method⁴. On Clomid, the pills drive egg growth, so the timing is tied to your last pill instead. Clomid is approved to treat problems with ovulation, so many people who take it do not ovulate regularly on their own¹. For them, an old cycle length says little about this cycle. If you enter a cycle length, the tool shows the natural estimate next to your Clomid window, so you can see why your usual "day 14" may not apply.

How to Confirm Ovulation on Clomid

The label says tests to check for ovulation may be useful during this window¹.

  • Home LH kits detect the surge before ovulation and help time sex² ³. They give false positives in about 7% of cycles⁴.

  • Temperature charts show a rise after ovulation, so they confirm it after the fact².

  • Your doctor may check a blood progesterone level to see whether you ovulated, or use ultrasound to track when an egg may be released² ³.

Not every Clomid cycle ends in ovulation. ASRM says that almost 80% of women who do not ovulate on their own will ovulate over several months on these medicines³. If you see no positive LH test by the end of your window, tell your doctor.

Warning Signs to Call Your Doctor About

The Clomid label lists the early warning signs of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS, overly swollen ovaries) as "abdominal pain and distention, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and weight gain."¹ It warns that OHSS "may progress rapidly (within 24 hours to several days)."¹ The label also lists "blurring or other visual symptoms such as spots or flashes" and treats them as needing prompt eye evaluation¹. Call your doctor right away if any of these happen.

Clomid also raises the chance of twins or more. In the label's clinical trials, 7.98% of pregnancies with a known outcome were multiples: 6.9% twins, 0.5% triplets, 0.3% quadruplets and 0.1% quintuplets¹. ASRM puts the chance of twins at about 5% to 8%³.

Clomid Schedules and Likely Ovulation Days

Each bar is one cycle, starting on day 1 of your period. Ovulation follows the last pill, so a later start moves every date later.

From the schedule table above: likely ovulation 5 to 10 days after the last pill (Clomid FDA label); LH tests and sex every 1 to 2 days from 3 to 10 days after the last pill; pregnancy test on or after 25 days after the last pill. The last two are this calculator's planning rules. Timing only: your doctor sets your dose.

A Note on Accuracy

These dates come from the usual timing on the Clomid label, not from your body. Ovulation can happen outside the 5 to 10 day window, and some cycles do not ovulate at all. The tool cannot confirm ovulation or pregnancy. Your clinic's instructions, such as timing based on an ultrasound, come first. If you had any other fertility medicine this cycle, such as an hCG injection, ask your clinic when to test, because fertility medicines can cause a false positive pregnancy test⁶.

Frequently Asked Questions

When do you ovulate after taking Clomid?

Ovulation most often happens 5 to 10 days after your last pill¹. On days 5 to 9, that is usually cycle days 14 to 19.

When should I start ovulation tests on Clomid?

This calculator starts LH tests 3 days after your last pill, which is cycle day 12 on days 5 to 9. That gives you time to catch an early surge, since ovulation can follow a positive test within 2 days⁴.

When should I take a pregnancy test after Clomid?

This calculator suggests testing on or after 25 days after your last pill, which is 15 days after the latest likely ovulation day, when your period would be due. Testing earlier raises the chance of a false negative, since 10 to 20 of every 100 pregnant women do not get a positive on the first day of a missed period⁵.

How accurate is a Clomid ovulation calculator?

It gives a sound planning window based on the drug label, but not your exact day¹. LH tests or your doctor's monitoring can show when, or whether, you ovulated².
